Nokia Comes With Music - DRM = Coffin Nails?
Nokia's Come with Music has clearly not been the success Nokia hoped for, and now with the recent news that Apple Inc has reached a deal with major record labels to sell digital songs without the copy protection software, in other words, without DRM (Digital Rights Management), will this provoke Nokia into doing the same?
DRM was designed to prevent fans from illegally sharing digital downloads on file-sharing services. But it also prevented many fans from moving their own songs between devices and became increasingly unpopular.
To be fair, Nokia's Come with Music is still in its infancy, and has yet to mature, however, to succeed, I would imagine, Nokia really needs to release Comes with Music on more devices than the small selection they have in place already, N95 8GB, N96, and 5310, and not only that, also decide what they are going to do about DRM, because lets face it, its DRM that could possibly be the final Nail in the Comes With Music's Coffin.
